The Lofty Pines

We are The Lofty Pines. We are an acoustic trio based out of Erie, Colorado. The music blurs the lines between folk, americana, singer-songwriter, and bluegrass. We are gearing up for recording our debut album and starting to play out at various venues across the Denver/Boulder area. 

We are three ordinary dads who have each had our own unique musical journey up until now. Our story started when Ben Knighten (guitar, mandolin, songwriter) moved back to Colorado from Hawaii and reconnected with an old friend named Darren Thornberry (guitar, vocals, percussion). Ben and Darren would spend the next 7 years playing various shows together under the name "Ben Knighten Music." One day in the Spring of 2022 Ben asked Darren if he would officially start and band with him as a new project to work on songs that had yet to be recorded. Fast forward a few months and a craigslist ad later and Carey Lewis (violin) joined Darren and Ben after recently relocating to Erie from Houston, TX. Thus The Lofty Pines were born. 

We are getting together regularly and arranging our songs in new ways. Stay tuned for a debut album in 2023 and come out and see us at one of our upcoming gigs along the Front Range.
